Code Generators and Productivity
March 27, 2013
Pinesoft have long believed in the productivity enhancements which can be offered to our customers by the intelligent use of Code generators (Computer aided software design tools which can generate significant percentages of entire applications, without hand coding them). We generated our first one of these in 1995, and it was responsible for about 50% of the code for the project that it was used for. Software generated by a code generator is effectively bug free, and so is not just cheap to build, but stable and cheap to maintain. No flexibility is lost, as the output is merely software source code, which can be taken away by a client and modified directly if required. We are proud to announce that our third generation tool, 'App Foundry' is now capable of creating entire simple business applications, with almost no direct development effort. App Foundry is now entirely capable of building persistency layers, business object models and the user forms required to create, edit and delete, as well as to navigate through the application itself. Contact Pinesoft for a demonstration of how App Foundry can dramatically reduce the cost of your new busines software application. More...

Testing Circle Interview with Dr. Stephen Dakin
November 23, 2011
Interview with Stephen Dakin Managing Director, Pinesoft Steve Dakin’s enthusiasm and determination is unwaveringly infectious. He is certainly not your typical business owner - the way he talks about his employees and his working environment, you would be hard pushed to find someone who doesn’t want to work for him. Obtaining his PhD from Imperial, Steve started his career as a Scientist but quickly discovered his affinity with development and as it would seem, entrepreneurship. Potentially the best person to start a company, Steve had no experience and hardly any contacts; but he had ambition, zeal and fortitude by the bucket load. He is certainly someone to admire for his scientific knowledge and look up to for his business acumen and energy - it’s amazing to speak with someone who genuinely loves what they’re doing and is a shining example of what you would want a business owner to be.Testing Circle would like to thank Stephen Dakin and everyone at Pinesoft for allowing us to conduct this interview. Interviewed by Ashleigh Ace, former Testing Circle Marketing Manager. More...
